Here's a list of inspirational quotes, wisdom and perspective, from all around the net...

Have you ever thought about how many plastic bottles you go through in a week? A month? A year? Not only do we use plastic bottles for drinks, but we use them for shampoos, conditioners, detergents, disinfectants, and so on. Although many of us recycle these plastic bottles, there is a way to take an extra step and reduce the consumption itself!

It seems like only yesterday we were rushing around putting together the submission for the eventual winning entry for the Winter Games logo competition—yet it was fully five years ago. Those years have passed quickly, and today the excitement in the community is building rapidly.

"Imagine a modern vibrant neighbourhood that's energy efficient, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable."

Last weekend I attended a conference themed "Partnering for Success" that discussed how sustainable communities like this could be realistically achieved.  It was hosted by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' (FCM) 2009 Annual Conference and Municipal Expo in beautiful Whistler, BC.

Community leaders from all over the country assembled to discuss and learn about issues and opportunities to strengthen and better serve their communities.

The 2009 Alpha course has recently wrapped up at the new public library in Whistler B.C. Running for more than 26 years and in 163 different countries, this relationship-based course brings people together from different backgrounds and cultures. It has proven to be an authentic way to unite the diverse, transient crowd that flows consistently through Whistler, strengthening the participants’ spiritual and social wellbeing and creating vibrancy within the community.

RE-USE-IT!!!

The Re-Use-It Centre in Whistler, B.C. was built by the Resort Municipality of Whistler in 2000, to help keep useable items out of the landfill and to help fulfill the community’s 2020 Sustainability plan.  Since that time the organization has helped thousand of community residents and guests through a simple mathematical equation that might look somthing like this:

People + Used Items + Generosity ÷ Sorting + Re-selling + Recycling Hard workers and Volunteers

No Child Left Behind No Child Left Inside

How exciting to see so many thousands of grassroots movements for sustainability and peace in the world!  We're proud to be one of them, and to join with others on Sustainability Television to offer our message.  As Gandhi said, if we want real peace, we have to start with the children.

Immediately I found myself mesmerised by the momentum of radical ecological restoration at OMEGA Institute upon arriving at 7pm on a Friday night during the fall of 2008.   The smell of the forest, and the feeling of freedom due to the detachment of cell phone reception gave my mind a moment to breathe.  I quickly changed my cloths after checking into my cabin and quickly hurried to the main building to hear the keynote speaker Robert F Kennedy Jr.'s give the opening speech for the annual Water for Life Conference.
