Blog Post: Recycling and Renewable Energy
“We can help educate our families and communities about the importance of recycling for our environment, and how each of us can make a difference for a better world by recycling.” (Robert Alan Silverstein)
Recycling is directly connected to renewable energy as it helps in sustaining the natural resources of the earth. With the hype about recycling reaching every nook and corner of the world, there are many organizations, which have volunteered to take on recycling. Many products have been launched to facilitate proper recycling process. Northern California Compactor has pioneered in this field with their different types of compactors and recycling units.
However, there are many people in this world, who are, constantly, in two minds about recycling. Knowing the benefits and advantages of recycling can help in clearing their doubts.
Helpful in regaining resources: There are many things in our day to day life that are produced with the help of different natural resources. Now, these natural resources are not unlimited; hence, they are becoming less in quantity after prolonged use. So, it becomes necessary to recycle and reuse anything that is made from a particular natural resource. In a way, by recycling, you will be giving back what you have taken from the earth. Also, there are many natural resources like trees that support the ecological balance and life in a particular region. Hence, when paper is recycled, it not only saves a tree, but also the lives supported by it.
Energy conservation: Many projects have been launched by different companies to help various communities save and conserve energy by recycling products they generally throw away. It is a known fact that water is a source of energy in many places in the world. However, with the changing climatic conditions, there are many places that have less access to ground water. Hence, it becomes necessary to recycle waste water to fuel the water turbines working in these areas so that energy can be produced. However, here the energy produced from water needs to be conserved to ensure its sustainability.
Elimination of global warming and pollution: To a certain extent, recycling helps in preventing global warming. There are many plants and recycling units that help in saving energy at the time of industrial production, which ensures fewer emissions of greenhouse gases that are a hazard to the environment. When non-biodegradable material like plastic is recycled, it emits less gas compared to when it is burned. As a result, it causes less damage to the ozone layer.
Fewer waste products in landfills: Overfilling landfills are common phenomena in most of cities in the world. These landfills are filled with non-biodegradable waste that does not get absorbed in the soil. When mixed with the other waste products in the landfill, it tends to create a potent mixture of gases and particles that can harm the ecological balance in the area by manifolds. Recycling these kinds of waste products is one of the new lines of business for many companies and industries, which is surely a ray of hope for many of these places.
One of the biggest sources of renewable energy is recycling of waste water through different effluent plants. This not only takes care of drinking water issues of many areas, but can also be turned into a renewable energy source by connecting a water turbine to the plant’s water outlet.
There are many people who ask whether ‘recycling a way for renewable energy’. To a certain extent, it is. When a community strives to recycle all its products, it is actually contributing to different renewable energy sources. Companies who strive to ensure better functioning and production in their units by using less energy contribute to different sources of the renewable energy. Believe it or not, there are many ways of conserving natural resources and one of them would surely be recycling.
