General Information

Topic

The International Symposium Sustainability for New Neighbourhoods and Buildings brings together three key topics:

  • Planning and building of sustainable urban quarters and neighborhoods,
  • Planning and building of sustainable buildings,
  • Vocational education with regards to the other two topics.

The Symposium will present results of selected research projects of the Megacities Program funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF):

The topics are approached from the constructional/technical side as well as from methodological/process-related side, with particular consideration of the local conditions to be found in the MENA-region (Middle East / North Africa). All topics are looked at from an interdisciplinary point of view, with respect to the study courses at Campus El Gouna - Water Engineering, Energy Engineering, and Urban Development.

Representatives from different fields – science, economy, society, administration – are very welcome to join the event and approach the topic, investigate the state-of-the-art, get to know examples from practice and discuss them.

The possibility for exchange and networking between the different participants are a central idea of the Symposium. The aim is to identify fields and potentials of partnerships and cooperation in research and implementation related to the topic.
