Press Release: NEW Flooring for Creston District Society for Community Living
NEW Flooring in Creston and District Society for Community Living Thanks to TSBC Grant
May 14, 2013
Victoria, B.C. – Tire Stewardship BC (TSBC) is pleased to announce the grand re- opening of Creston and District Society for Community Living's Therapeutic Riding Centre. They are celebrating the renovations and upgrades to their facility, including flooring completed thanks in part to a grant that was awarded through TSBC’s community grant program.
The use of recycled rubber in flooring allows the area to be completely wheelchair accessible, provides safety by cushioning falls, and allows people of all ages to fully experience the joy of physical activity and play. Through its community grant program, Tire Stewardship BC awards matching funds up to $30,000 to not-for-profit organizations, schools, municipalities etc. that use BC recycled rubber in their projects. More than 60 million tires have been recycled in the province since 1991, when the scrap tire-recycling program was launched in BC.
There will be refreshments, as well as hostesses giving tours of the facility showing the improvements that have been made. There will also be some of the riders from the Therapeutic Riding Program doing an educational demonstration on their horses with a head instructor.
